Ingredients
- 0.5 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 cup olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 2 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir the mixture until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Use your hands to press the dough out into a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle.
- Brush the top of the dough with olive oil and sprinkle it with the garlic, rosemary, and salt. Use your fingertips to make indentations all over the top of the dough.
- Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until it is golden brown.
- Remove the focaccia from the oven and let it cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
